  • Sea container transportation - what is it?

A unified way of delivering goods in standardized metal containers using water transport. Today, containerized cargo transportation is the most reliable and cost-effective way of transporting goods and is in great demand among customers. When planning maritime transportation, it is important to choose a reliable partner that guarantees and insures its liability to the customer.

  • Sea Line - what is it?

Commercial and state-owned companies Carriers that own a waterborne fleet and a large number of sea containers for the transportation of various cargoes.

  • Line Agent - what is it?

Commercial companies Freight forwarders that have direct contracts with the Shipping Lines and provide chartering services, booking containers for transportation and forwarding of cargoes in sea transportation, as well as delivery of empty containers for loading, loading and unloading of containers, return of empty containers to the port.

  • Freight forwarder - what is it?

Commercial intermediary companies that have contracts with Line Agents and provide sub-sea freight forwarding services. As a rule, it is more profitable to place an order with a Line Agent through a Freight Forwarder due to the availability of a lower price from the Line Agent for the Line Agent in case of significant volumes of loading and transportation than the Customer will place an order directly with the Line Agent with its small volume of chartering.

  • Advantages of container transportation?

Cost of transportation, increased safety of transportation, flexibility of transportation by various modes of transport, standardization, and the possibility of delivery to different continents.

  • Cost of sea container transportation?

The cost of transportation is seasonal and is determined individually, depending on the route, type of cargo, weight and volume.

  • What types of containers are there?

Standard container for cargo transportation. Refrigerated containers for the transportation of goods requiring a certain temperature regime. Flat Rack for transportation of any oversized cargo. Open Top for loading cargo from above. Tank for transportation of liquid and gaseous substances.

  • If I have a small amount of cargo, what should I do?

LCL for partial loading of the container, payment for the actual volume of cargo. Groupage container transportation is a cost-effective way to deliver goods that are not enough to load the entire container and has a number of advantages: - Cost efficiency: Combining cargoes from different Shippers in one container reduces the cost of transportation for each Customer. - Flexibility and availability: The ability to transport small consignments of goods without having to pay for the entire container. - Reduced risks and increased security: Unlike air delivery, containers protect goods from external influences and damage during transportation.

N-TRANS provides a full range of customs brokerage services in Kyiv, Kyiv Region, and throughout Ukraine, while also offering comprehensive ocean freight transportation solutions from Europe and other regions worldwide. Turnkey customs clearance combined with sea container transportation is our core specialization.

We work with legal entities and entrepreneurs. Our professional customs brokers in Kyiv handle all customs-related matters, while our logistics specialists organize international sea freight transportation, oversee every stage of the shipping process, and ensure complete cargo control from origin to destination.

Integrated Approach: Customs Clearance and Sea Freight Logistics

Successful international trade requires seamless cooperation between customs brokers and logistics operators. We combine customs clearance at seaports with international ocean freight services, providing clients with a single point of contact for all logistics and customs needs—from obtaining a freight quote to customs clearance and final delivery to a warehouse in Kyiv or Kyiv Region.

This integrated approach reduces coordination time, ensures transparent pricing for container shipping and customs payments, and guarantees cargo safety throughout the entire supply chain—from loading at the shipper’s warehouse to customs release into free circulation.

International Sea Freight Transportation Services

Sea freight remains the most cost-effective method of transporting large volumes of goods over long distances. We offer a complete range of ocean freight solutions tailored to the specific needs of each business.

Container Shipping: FCL and LCL

Sea container transportation can be organized in two primary formats:

Full Container Load (FCL)

FCL shipping is ideal for large shipments. The customer utilizes an entire container, minimizing the risk of cargo damage and simplifying documentation procedures.

Less than Container Load (LCL)

LCL shipping is designed for smaller cargo volumes. Multiple customers share container space, significantly reducing transportation costs for smaller consignments.

Our specialists help determine the most efficient option based on cargo volume, product type, transit requirements, and budget. We cooperate with leading container shipping lines serving Ukraine and international markets.

Bulk Cargo Shipping

Bulk cargo transportation by sea is widely used for grain, ores, fertilizers, construction materials, and other loose commodities.

Our services include:

Project Cargo and Oversized Freight Transportation

Oversized cargo transportation by sea is essential for large industrial equipment, production lines, transformers, turbines, and other heavy-lift cargo.

We provide:

Such shipments require meticulous planning and control from origin to destination.

Dangerous Goods Shipping (IMDG)

International maritime transportation of hazardous cargo requires strict compliance with international regulations, including the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.

Our specialists provide:

Sea Freight from China, Turkey, and Europe

We provide up-to-date freight quotations and advise clients on the most suitable shipping options.

Container shipping costs may include:

Incoterms for Maritime Transportation

Selecting the correct Incoterms® rule is essential for determining responsibility, risk allocation, freight payment obligations, and customs procedures.

The most commonly used Incoterms for sea freight include:

FOB (Free on Board)

The seller delivers the cargo onboard the vessel at the port of loading. From that moment, all risks and costs transfer to the buyer.

CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight)

The seller pays freight and insurance to the destination port, while cargo risk transfers once the goods are loaded onboard.

CFR (Cost and Freight)

Similar to CIF, but insurance is not included.

EXW (Ex Works)

The buyer assumes full responsibility from the seller's premises.

Our specialists help clients select the most advantageous Incoterms solution based on cargo type, supply chain structure, and budget.

Marine Survey Services

Marine survey services protect the interests of cargo owners throughout the transportation process.

Our surveyors perform:

Following the inspection, a formal survey report is issued. This document may serve as evidence for insurance claims, customs procedures, arbitration, and commercial disputes.

Cargo Insurance for Sea Freight

Although marine cargo insurance is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended for valuable, oversized, or hazardous cargo.

We offer:

Survey reports can be used to support insurance claims in the event of cargo damage or loss.

Customs Clearance for Ocean Freight Cargo

Once cargo arrives at the port, customs clearance becomes the next critical stage.

Our customs brokers in Kyiv provide:

Efficient customs clearance at the port helps avoid unnecessary storage charges, demurrage, and detention fees.

Required Documents for Sea Freight and Customs Clearance

The standard document package includes:

Accurate completion of shipping documents is essential, as errors in consignee information, cargo descriptions, quantities, or HS codes may lead to customs delays.
